Beginning Embroidery

Instructor: Kris Greening  

Participants will learn and practice some basic hand embroidery stitches, then put together a small project: either an embroidered pin cushion or an embroidered needle holder. Note: Embroidery supplies are included but students will need to bring their own tools: small, sharp scissors and a small embroidery hoop. 

Kris first started embroidering when she was a young child and today enjoys many fiber arts including knitting, tatting, sewing, weaving, cross stitch and embroidery.  She likes to teach and encourage others to enjoy fiber arts and has taught knitting several times.  She is enthusiastic about the resurgence of embroidery and is eager to share this craft.

Intro to Needle Felting

Instructor: Grace Gunn 

Learn the joy of sculpting in wool with needle felting! This class will cover the basics of needle felting a small, three-dimensional object. After completing your first piece, you be able to create adorable accessories for your piece as you continue to develop your needle felting skills. All supplies provided. 

Grace has been needle felting for about 4 years and has created a lovely collection of animals and other adorable objects. She frequently demonstrates needle felting at historical events to share this fun and traditional art. Grace looks forward to sharing her skills with others.

Making Miniature Quilts

Instructor: Genie Allen 

Do you love miniatures? This class is perfect for anyone wanting to learn about hand-sewing and quilting on a small scale. Even beginners can make an adorable mini quilt for a little bed! Making mini quilts is the perfect way to learn the basics of quilting & discover a new favorite hobby. All materials will be provided.

Patchwork Circle Skirt

Instructor: Sally Sexton-Burleson 

Make your own original, graceful, patchwork skirt from repurposed, vintage fabrics. You will learn how to make this skirt from scratch. No experience is necessary; the instructor will lead you through the steps to sewing your own unique skirt. All sewing materials are included.   

Sally has a passion for finding new uses for old things. With many years of experience in teaching practical life skills, she always enjoys the challenge of finding uses for things that others may overlook. She grew up in the Ozarks and works at Bergman School. Sally is a found-object artist, crafter and cook.
